It's beginning to be a bit of a pain administering this board's installation.
I'm very tempted to archive it and take it down.
Please, let me know here if this is still a valued resource for you.
(ah - it's working a little better now, as you were...)
Cheers, -- Giles.

Server Downtime
To quote the ISP, the server here may be down for a few hours while some migration takes place:
"The migration will take place overnight on September 27th, starting at 21:00 and will run until 08:00 the following day, September 28th."
That gives you a 3 hour heads-up, see you in the morning!

Re: Social Media
I'd be happy to see an Oolite FB page, although I don't have time to manage one myself. If you create one, I'd appreciate having admin access, as I would probably have to deal with inevitable queries about the page at some point, and would like to be able to deal with that effectively. As with almos...

Re: Weirdness with 'quotes' in BB posts
I had to go in and 'fix' a few things today. It's still not quite right. :/

Re: Weirdness with 'quotes' in BB posts
This is not an easy fix unfortunately. I had been relying on the ISP's automatic update system for the boarad, but it seems to have failed to update the database. I'll have to see what can be done.

Re: Get Giles on his bike!
It's made a huge difference to my life.
I'd finish putting together my write-up but we're dealing with some family crises at the moment. Bear with.

Re: Something weird about the boards
There was an update to v3.1 that seemed to happen automagically.
It broke the default style we use, and I'm trying to reset it, but am running out of spoons. PM me with any big issues and I'll try to fix them.

Bulletin Board update
The BB has been updated to v3.1 which has lost a few things from our default style in the process. I'm attempting to get things how they were, but in the meantime, please PM any style/graphical issues with this board to me.
I can't guarantee to fix things quickly, but I'll do what I can.

Re: Get Giles on his bike!
I was thinking of hiring a canal boat myself. (I live in Essex.) If you hire from Broxbourne Black Prince CanalAbility you can enjoy exploring the Lee and Stort rivers and navigations, I did that myself about 12 years ago. If you give it a few months the Bow Back Rivers in the Olympic Park will be ...

Re: Get Giles on his bike!
It's going really well! I'm able to get to the supermarket and back without having to take a bus, and I've been able to ride out along the towpaths to the extent that I'm training to become a volunteer towpath ranger with the Canal and River Trust. My first long ride came sooner than I expected thou...

Re: Get Giles on his bike!
And yes this is to be read in a comical tone.... You really can't get away with anything vaguely fuzzy on the accuracy front on this board can you? It's top button done up, 1+1=2, p's and q's, pens in a row, shirt tucked neatly in. No deviation; just straight-down-the-line. Nice and binary. It is o...

Re: Get Giles on his bike!
Thank you so much Clym, that's the donation that take me to my target of £600! And yeah, I'm very well aware of bike theft here in London, my partners and friends have lost bikes 'secured' with cable locks and cheap D-locks. My old bike, fortunately, has a very nice D-Lock that has seen off several ...
