How about a [Wikipedia] Bussard Ramjet ?

For interstellar travel, you don't really need high acceleration , but a small steady acceleration.

Is there volume/pause/next/prev control available in-game? No idea, (I use Linux or Windoze) but it seems unlikely. If not, I’ll look into it — should be simple enough to map a key to trigger a shell command to talk to iTunes, hopefully that’s within OXP capabilites. OXPs can't directly map keys.. ...

the "additonal ships" might be responsible for this, also lave is not exactly a safe area.

Head for zaonce, there's a reasonable safe milkrun ( furs <> computer trading between low-tech agrarian and high-tech industrial systems) close to zaonce.

There is a maximum trade-in-value for your ship. I'm not 100% certain, but think it's 75% of the total value . Aside from that, there's the ship_trade_in_factor . I've looked hard at the problems in 1.10 / 1.11 and abandoned the replacement handler strategy. v1.12 uses a different method that i have playtested for several hours without getting problems.
