I use a Mac ;-)

Thanks anyway though.

Think I'll just wait for a release that all the developers agree is stable and (mostly) bug free.

Nice work.
Look forward to seeing it, when 1.71 is on general release anyway ;-)
(Not quite sure what exactly I have to download from belios in order to compile a fully working test release)

Thanks a lot for all the advice. Seems a little overwhelming right now, but I've got to start somewhere. My last coding experience (other than HTML) was a Pong clone on the Amiga using Blitz Basic, about 10-15 years ago. I'm working on a simple sound/music replacement one at the moment, but I'll kee...

I agree that only the penalty for the latest misdemeanour should be wiped, should the relevant police be 'persuaded' to forget about it.

This makes perfect sense to me, and tallies with real-life events.

(Not that I'm condoning this kind of behaviour!)

Suggestions of OXPs to learn from

I'm still having a hard time learning the basics of the scripting system  So . . . can anybody recommend some OXPs (preferably using the JavaScript method), that would be good to look at purely for learning purposes? (I've got far too many to just randomly start looking at them, so I'm just as...

Nice work on trying to satisfy all Ooliters out there ;-) Just one question: - If I have the 'full' version of Realistic Shipyards, do I still need the old OXP 'Illicit_Unlock' that allows players the opportunity to buy NPC only ships? Just wondering as they appear to overlap in this regard. Otherwi...

Asteroid trying to dock ?!?

Occasionally I see what looks like a small asteroid sat in the docking bay of a station. I can shoot and destroy it, but when I do so I get a message from the police stating that they have improved my legal status (paraphrasing), and have been awarded 10 credits. I can then dock as normal, but I nev...

This is a really great idea that adds a little to the huge amount of choice we have in this game, and I think that that has always been one of the main appeals of the Elite genre.

I hope it's possible to do via OXP. or whether the main code can easily be amended to make it so ;-)

Staggerlee - I've replied on the other forum, and look forward to hearing your sounds, as I'm looking into doing similar things.

AnotherCommander - Thanks for the heads up on the new CustomSounds.plist, although it means that some of my post on the other forum is now obselete ;-)

A man after my own heart! I too am busy with a replacement soundset (competition makes us both stronger ;-) as sound design and music are about the only skills I currently have to offer to the Ooniverse, so I'm going to give what I can! I would there to be more options for in-game music without reso...

I agree wholeheartedly that GalCop is shorthand for Galactic co-operative, and GalCops is the slang for their police force; although the singular GalCop appears to be used interchangingly depending upon the context. What I wonder more though, is whether Braben & Bell ever envisaged people still disc...

Well I do have Galactic Navy version 4 running, so it's possible.

When the message appears, I do sometimes also get a message telling me of a cash reward for the scoop, but it doesn't actually give me the money!

"You have scooped a Navy Officer!"

I keep getting the message "You have scooped a Navy Officer!" appearing randomly. The last time I got it (and screen grabbed it), I was docked at Lave as a Jameson, and so did not even have a scoop! I've done a search, but cannot find anything about it on the forum. http://img382.imageshack.us/img38...
