Re: Frontier Developments plc Full year trading update
For comparison EVE (spreadsheets in space, as someone named it) has almost exactly 1000 times as many players. https://www.vg247.com/2015/06/29/eve-onlines-player-count-drops-to-lowest-since-2008/ Well, it's fairly plain from what I said previously that I don't go anywhere near the "cutting edge" o...

Re: Tales from the spacelanes...
Or even better still, a bunch of Thargoid warships! Out of the frying pan and into the Laser Ignition Facility. Besides, bloody insects never turn up when you need them. They didn't just have their fear glands removed, but had the space filled with the "Really Great Timing" and "Thanks, M-8-legs" g...

Re: Frontier Developments plc Full year trading update
"Steam" is some systm for online only games, isn't it? So if I read that correctly there are between 20 and 40 players in the ED universe at any one time. I don't know if that is good or bad - are they charged to be online? Phew, I remember that with trying to get online in the early 90s with a 2400...

Yeah, that share price chart is not a pretty picture Pity the guy who bought 1,600,000 shares just before the Elite Dangerous bad news went public... losing him more than £1m... ... and handing a nice profit of £4m to the uncannily prescient seller. One David Braben ( link )... I barely understand ...

Re: [Release] Andromeda OXP v1.5
[wiki]Andromeda[/wiki] - the main spaceship in Gene Roddenberry's Andromeda TV series. Shiny indeed! I've only just recently discovered the TV series in the depths of daytime TV. It took about 10 episodes of watching the lilac girl turn irregularly yellow before I realised that they were broadcasti...

Re: Apollo 11 command module in 3D
The Smithsonian have put a 3D scan of the Apollo 11 command module online: It's very nice, but my first impression from the description was that this would be a 3d-model of the exterior of the spacecraft component, and therefore potentially of interest to the shipyard representatives who lurk here....

Re: v1.84 release
would you recommend 3 military lasers for firepower, or three beam lasers for heat output? Military. Deliver 1.5 times more damage from the same heat, double damage/second, double range and energy efficiency so no reason to use Beam if you can afford the better one. Just be careful, your enemies us...

Re: Tales from the spacelanes...
I got to Ararus with a group of hired killers waiting for me at the witchpoint, forcing me to corkscrew down the main corridor on basic engines. I picked up a pirate group along the way. By the end of the journey I was docking with 14 'ships on my butt, but I cot a cool 400 cred as payment. Hi NEAN...

Re: Stellar Serpents
I've completed the visiting of planets in G2 (Explorers OXP(Z)) and have gone for a Stellar Serpent hunt before hitting the 'G' button. I eventully got caught up with the damned beast, I think. But F5 tells me there are now no Serpents in the Galaxy, while the '`' message log tells me there is a ser...

Re: Windows Update
" IE " ... that's a phrase I have to struggle to remember the meaning of. Is it something like "there should not be a monoculture of OS plus browser with hugely distributed holes (when identified) ; therefore, regardless of your OS, one should never use the OS's default browser ; in the case of a Wi...

Re: Windows Update
That link just tells me that "Javascript is disabled," which I knew already (NoScript). Oh, I see. Its a Microsoft website. No, I doubt that'll help much. And no, I'm not even going to temporarily allow MS to run code on my machine, even if it's in a browser's "sandbox". Microsoft upgrade woes? I th...

Re: FYI - Anaconda overheats in Torus-drive??
I'm not using the "Ships Configuration OXP". I should have thought of that earlier. Checking my list of installed OX(Z)Ps is ... (Dump of data to log file - is this what you need?) GL_EXT_point_parameters, GL_ATI_separate_stencil, GL_AMD_performance_monitor, GL_EXT_subtexture, GL_NV_texture_barrier,...

Re: Trading limitations
Buried in "developers" ... well, I certainly haven't delved in there. So, the Wiki needs the notes that RHs (without the OXPs you mention) can only receive 15TC/ commodity; (2^4-1) Coriolis can only accept 127 (2^7-1); Torus (the do-nut big stations) can take ??????? Small stations ("Trade Outpost,"...

Re: FYI - Anaconda overheats in Torus-drive??
In Ship Config, the things that will generate heat are injectors, Nope. in normal flight, T-drive. No injectors. initiating a hyperspace jump, I was heading towards the star to top off the tanthoseks before leaping into an Anarchy (with anticipation of trouble, and needing to jump on ; better to ha...
