In the course of doing some extensive remapping of the keyboard controls (to be the subject of an upcoming post) I changed the F6 map info key from 'i' to 'q'.

Imagine my surprise when nothing happens when I try to use the key.. I've tested two different keyboards, and the 'q' on both works fine, except in Oolite, where it does nothing.

Now, I understand that Oolite uses 'Q' in both Windows and Linux for "Quit", but why on earth isn't the lowercase 'q' working?

This is on 1.77 non-trunk, Linux version, for whatever that may be worth..

Edit: never mind.. I just managed to do a couple of incredibly dumb things, is all..

Works okay here, Diz - that's using the keyconfig.plist in my AddOns/Config folder.

Turns out that not only had I mapped the 'q' key to a completely different function than I thought I had, (goof #1) but I'd managed to create several interesting conflicts by 3 instances of managing to assign the same key to more than one function (goof #2), including at least one conflict caused by my being lazy and simply commenting out an assignment I didn't use as it was already mapped to my joystick, thereby allowing the default setting to remain active. (technically, a new goof #3, so that now makes four)

Amongst other things, this resulted in a missile being auto-targeted every time I toggled the Torus drive..

In the end I got smart and used Svengali's Keyconfig utility to ensure I had no more problems..

Brilliant. That's the way the dark side affects you. You encounter a problem and the first thought is "I need an oxp to fix that"

Ha, that reminded me of my 'Welcoming Commitee OXP' I wrote once. I was doing a mission and at one point after every jump I was greeted by a hoard of very tough, very angry relatives of somebody I had 'retired'. I was getting fed up with this so I wrote a little OXP to add 10 police Vipers at the witchpoint. As soon as the relatives attacked me, I had plenty of back-up

I think you mean horde... But which OXP is this? I'd like to spend some time retiring some souls...

I think it was Assassins, but it was a long time ago so can't be sure.
