It must be the Frontier forum.

Reasons I won't play E:D
1) too poor machine
2) game too costly
3) griefing

I thought the idea was that if you didn't want to participate in PvP, you didn't have to? So whyfor the rage?

From what I can gather, the "rules" about griefing and PvP aren't being applied during beta-testing.. and some lowlife types are taking full advantage of it while they can, much to the annoyance of those who'd rather just playtest.
Most games have some sort of paddling-pool-and-water-wings beginning to ease you in: Oolite takes the rather more Darwinian approach of heaving you straight into the ocean, often with a brick or two in your pockets for luck. ~ Disembodied

I've more or less given-up reading all that - consensual this, non-consensual that, PvP, PvE - bah humbug!
Not that it concerns me, of course - as a solo player, I'll be in my own solitary universe!

Yeah, Diz - so-called 'griefing' is rampant (apparently)!

Remind me again what is the minimum graphic card needed? How does my Radeon HD 6630 compare?

I've no idea how AMD cards stack-up - you'd have to do your own digging. The game will require a quad-core CPU though.

Yeah, I'm wondering about how much it would cost to upgrade my computer to be able to run this :(

As for the griefers... well when the full game comes out there (should be) so much space they can't possibly be as dominant as they are anyway, so I'm sure it will be fine even outside of single-player play. And even if they organized to reign terror in certain sectors, well, that's just a state of Anarchy which will either get swatted down or avoided like the plague. I'll be more curious to see how the multiplayer dynamic works with a much larger galaxy and player base to work with.

I think the main issue I'm having is the lack of perspective. The Pvpers have made an beautiful straw man and they're sticking to it.
It reminds me of the argument defenting rampant capitalism: The system is perfect if you dislike the system it is because your bad at it.

So any counter argument presented, however logical, is dismissed off hand as sour grapes. Throw in the odd jab regarding the manhood being directly measurable to your success at fighting (never understood that one) and you have a straw man the size of which wouldn't look out of place perched on a cliff top on the island of Summerisle.

Yeah, you're right there. Dillholes are dillholes, but hopefully it'll be a problem that is fixed soon enough. If anything it'll give the team working on it the chance to observe the spotted dillhole in its natural habitat, and it helps them come up with ideas for dealing with them later on ;)

That was pretty much my take on it too.. Frontier have the perfect opportunity to observe and analyse their behaviour, all the better to stomp on them later.

It is the joy of beta that you can get accurate data on how your average joe will abuse your product.

In this act I cannot fault them. Still, it's a lot of stress borne of a small matter.
