Apollo 11 command module in 3D

Post by Disembodied » Wed Jul 20, 2016 3:58 pm

The Smithsonian have put a 3D scan of the Apollo 11 command module online:

(you have to make your own sound effects, though)

It's very nice, but my first impression from the description was that this would be a 3d-model of the exterior of the spacecraft component, and therefore potentially of interest to the shipyard representatives who lurk here. But AFAICT, this model only shows the interior of the spacecraft. Which is interesting enough, but ... well it's so complex compared to modern designs. You'd almost think they learned to fly in an atmosphere, for Thargon's sake! Without computers, even!
Edit : odd - the BBS software thinks I'm offline, when I'm obviously not.

Yes, sorry, I should have made that clear - it's a 3D image of the interior of the command module, with a fully rotatable view.
